Which entrance should I use when I arrive at Swissotel Chicago?

Complimentary valet parking for Discovery Ball is located via the main hotel entrance. A taxi or using a private car service, you should be dropped off at the main hotel entrance.

 

What is the attire for this event?

The event attire is black tie with tuxedos for men and ball gowns for women.

 

What is the schedule of events?

Event registration begins at 5:30 p.m. After you register, you will escorted to a reception that includes the silent auction. The doors to the ballroom will open at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, program, live auction and the featured guest performance. At 10:30 p.m., guests will be invited to the late-night party for snacks, dancing and other fun surprises. The event is scheduled to end at 12:00 a.m.

 

Can I use cash for purchases on the night of the event?

No, we do not accept cash at Discovery Ball. Only credit cards and checks will be accepted.

 

How can I bid on silent auction items at the event?

Mobile bidding on cell phones will be used at Discovery Ball. Please be sure to bring your fully-charged cell phone with you.

 

Can I make a Discovery Ball donation?

Yes, donations are being accepted. You may CLICK HERE to donate online, call or mail in your donation to the Discovery Ball office. We do not accept cash for Discovery Ball donations. Only credit cards and checks are accepted.

Will I receive a receipt for my tax records?

If you mail in your donation, the American Cancer Society will send you a receipt for your tax records, approximately six weeks after payment is received. If you make a donation online using your credit card, you will be directed to a confirmation page that can be printed for your tax records. In addition, an email will be sent to you that includes a receipt that can be printed for your records.

 

How will my donation be used?

Discovery Ball donations will support the mission of the American Cancer Society as it works to save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.

 

The American Cancer Society is the largest private funder of cancer research in the United States, with more than $3.9 billion invested in the search for new cures. Research funded by the Society has laid the groundwork for virtually every major breakthrough in cancer prevention, detection and treatment seen in the last six decades. When we began, only a quarter of all cancer patients achieved 5-year survival. Today, more than 2 in 3 will reach this milestone. Through the years, 47 scientists funded by the Society have earned the Nobel Prize for their findings.
